Who Are We?

We are a group of individuals volunteering to help preserve, support and strengthen the Carlisle Public Library. Our members consist of enthusiastic library users and supporters who believe in the importance of the library as a social and intellectual center in the community. Friends sponsors special events and raises additional money to purchase a variety of items not funded by the regular library operating budget. The purpose of the Friends of the Library group is not only to provide additional financial support for the library and its programs, but also to create awareness and appreciation for the library within our community. The library is a neighborhood meeting place for children as well as adults. The Friends group has been able to supplement the funds needed for the children’s Summer Reading Program, an invaluable benefit to the community. Our fundraising efforts allow the library to offer cultural enrichment programs to improve the quality of life for citizens in our area, as well as an expanded and varied collection of books, movies, magazines and services. Friends has a close connection with the library staff and is constantly working with them to ensure that our library is able to go above and beyond in serving its patrons.
